Feed My Starving Children- Spring SERVE Weekend

On April 9-11, Trinity will host a Feed My Starving Children mobile packing event. Our initial goal was to pack 100,000 meals and thanks to the many generous donations received through the end of February, we have increased our final number of meals to pack to 176,500 meals! Our focus starting in February was to raise the funds needed for the meals. We will continue to collect donations on Sundays, Wednesdays during Lent or they can be dropped off during the week at the church office to help cover the cost of the meals we will be packing. If you would like to make an on-line donation to FMSC rather than to Trinity, you may do so and still have your donation applied directly to Trinity’s Packing Event (#1004-05). Click Here and be sure to designate Trinity as the packing event site and include the packing event number in the appropriate spaces on the FMSC form.

Who can volunteer:
ALL Trinity households are encouraged to volunteer and help fill the 900 volunteer spots needed! (everyone age 5 and older)! There will be something for everyone and training will be provided at each shift. Children Ages 5- Grade 2 who want to volunteer, will need a one to one parent ratio. If you are not able to stand for the entire time, you may be able to help with labeling and packing of boxes, which can be done sitting down. Friday afternoon is an "adult only" shift. Come alone, or with a friend, everyone is needed! Initially, we are asking people to just sign up for one packing shift so that we can be sure that all Trinity households have an opportunity to help pack the meals.

Children under 5 are too young to participate in the actual packing. We are providing one shift where childcare is provided for families with young children.

How do I volunteer:
1. Email serve@trinitylonglake.org . Please provide:

First, second and third choice of times.
Names, age/grade for children
Phone number

2. Stop by the FMSC display on Wednesday nights during Lent (starting March 3) or Sunday mornings.
3. Call or stop by the church office during the week.

With the seasons change and hours of daylight decreasing, the darkness can be scary for those who are homeless. The men’s shelter provides a bed, a warm meal and staff to 46 guests each night. Volunteer to serve a meal May 1 (breakfast) and June 5(breakfast). To sign up, see poster at church or email Jill Cornell.

MN FoodShare Month
March is MN FoodShare Month, the second largest food and fund drive in the state, second only to holiday food drives. During March, we are collecting food and cash/ check donations. For food donations- consider donating the heaviest items such as canned goods, peanut butter, etc. and place in the IOCP food wagon at church. For cash donations- any amount is appreciated. Each dollar donated can result in four pounds of food IOCP is able to purchase through cooperative, bulk purchasing. For all donations a food shelf receives during March, through Minnesota FoodShare, they are able to stretch their dollars further by receiving additional funds from the Feinstein Foundation based on their total pounds and dollars received. Envelopes for MN FoodShare are available by the IOCP wagon or on the Information desk at church.

Easter Card Making
Have fun making Easter cards for local care facilities and homebound members of Trinity on March 16, 9:30 am - 11 am. To sign up, please email Jill Cornell.
