For those requiring a scholarship in order to attend, click here for the financial support application.

service
Service Learning Camps give students the opportunity to step into meaningful, hands-on service while experiencing the vibrant coastal community of Ocean Beach and the greater San Diego region. Each week integrates service projects with learning sessions led by local nonprofit partners. Because these partnerships continue to develop through early 2026 in response to real-time community needs, every summer experience remains dynamic, relevant, and rooted in compassion.

devloping partnerships:

Ocean Beach Community Foundation | The Ocean Beach Community Foundation strengthens local neighborhood life through community events, food distribution, and volunteer projects. Students may help coordinate events, prepare supplies, or participate in coastal clean-up efforts. Youth will learn how grassroots organizations build belonging—lessons they can carry back into their own school, church, and Long Lake communities.

San Diego Bird Alliance – River Mouth Conservation & Docent Program | This organization protects critical wildlife habitat at the intersection of the San Diego River and the Pacific Ocean. Students might participate in habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, or support educational tours. They’ll gain insights into environmental stewardship and the shared responsibility of caring for natural spaces—whether by the ocean or around Minnesota’s lakes.

PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) | PATH works to end homelessness through outreach, housing services, and supportive care. Students may prepare meals, assemble care kits, or assist with community outreach. Learning sessions introduce the complex realities of homelessness and how compassion and systems-level responses work together. Many students return home seeing poverty and housing challenges in their own communities with fresh understanding.

The Alley Ministry (Ocean Beach) | The Alley Ministry provides meals, resources, and genuine human connection to neighbors experiencing homelessness or food insecurity. Students help prepare food bags, serve meals, and share conversation. Youth learn that service is fundamentally relational—not just “helping,” but building dignity, respect, and connection. Many bring that mindset home as they begin seeing their own communities through new eyes.

Love Thy Neighborhood | Love Thy Neighborhood weaves together faith, service, and justice through hands-on community engagement. Partner projects help youth explore their gifts, purpose, and calling. Students learn what it means to live out compassion—whether across the country or right in Long Lake and surrounding communities.

housing & showers
Our housing plan is to be determined based on out numbers. We may be at a church and stay on air mattresses and shower at a local YMCA or be housed in a college or hotel.

transportation
We will be flying out to San Diegos and renting 12-passenger vans that will be driven by adult leaders. We will stop and switch drivers every 2-3 hours. Participants will also rotate vehicles to be able to get to know everyone. The travel days are one of the best parts of the trip!

food
When we reach California, meals & snacks will be provided. On days we are traveling & fun stops, each participant will be responsible for purchasing their own food.

meetings
We will have regular youth & meetings leading up to the trip. Dates of those meetings will come at a later date.

adult leaders

The High School Mission Trip is only possible because of committed adult leaders who give their time and energy to provide a safe, fun, and meaningful trip for our youth. Adults work together to prepare for the event, lead devotions, and serve alongside youth throughout the mission trip.

Interested in being an adult leader? Please contact Kiana.
